YINDYAMARRA FASHION
Yindyamarra is a word from the Wiradjuri language of the Indigenous people of central New South Wales. It is often translated to mean "respect", but its meaning goes much deeper. Yindyamarra encompasses concepts of quietness, kindness, and respect. It represents a philosophy and way of life that emphasizes respect for others, being gentle, and taking the time to understand and appreciate the world around you. This precious word was chosen for our fashion label to respect the way that we seek to approach our work, and the world. The designs featured in Yindyamarra Fashion are all crafted by First Nations women, showcasing their stories, songlines, and love for the environment. Yindyamarra Fashion’s first release is a set of shawls and scarves, made from mulberry silk. They are light, soft, and a beautiful reminder of the need to take things slowly, and show respect to ourselves, others, and our land.
